Data Analyst

Job description

Engineering Data Analyst - Nuclear (US Citizens Only)

$70,000 - $105,000 + Training + Great Benefits + 401k + PTO
Knoxville, Tennessee (On Site)

Are you a data analyst with engineering knowledge who is genuinely interested in understanding how complex engineering systems behave, rather than spending your time cleaning datasets or writing SQL scripts?

This is a rare opportunity to work in the nuclear power industry, where your analysis directly supports the safe, reliable operation of nuclear instrumentation and control systems used at power plants around the world.

You'll join a highly respected organization known for its leadership in nuclear monitoring and diagnostics. In this role, you will focus on analyzing sensor and system-level data, using established proprietary analysis tools and algorithms that handle much of the data preparation for you. Your work will center on interpreting results, identifying trends, and helping engineers understand the health and performance of critical systems.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to apply analytical thinking to real-world engineering systems, operate within a rigorous quality framework, and develop deep domain expertise in a mission-critical, highly regulated environment.

The Role

  • Analyze data from nuclear instrumentation and control systems to assess system health and performance
  • Use proprietary analysis software and algorithms to identify trends, anomalies, and degradation patterns
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to interpret results and solve complex engineering problems
  • Prepare clear, well-structured reports and presentations for internal teams and utility customers
  • Operate under strict Quality Assurance processes to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Travel 6-12 times per year (average 4 days per trip) to nuclear facilities across the U.S. and internationally to support on-site data collection and validation

The Person

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong interest in analyzing engineering systems, sensor data, or physical processes
  • Comfortable working with structured analytical tools rather than building data pipelines from scratch
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven, and committed to quality and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly
  • Collaborative mindset and comfort working with engineers and field personnel
