I am currently representing a well-established, global manufacturer of end-of-line packaging machinery, operating across a range of industries. Established in 1969, the company employs around 550 people and generates approximately €150 million in annual revenue. They are continuing to expand their global service operations and are looking for a Field Service Engineer to help establish and develop their service presence across France and North Africa.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing complex packaging machinery at customer sites. You will primarily cover France, with additional travel to North Africa, the Middle East, and other international locations. You will also provide customer training, carry out modifications, and perform functional and acceptance testing.

The successful candidate will have a strong Mechatronics background, experience working with complex machinery and PLC systems, and be comfortable working independently in a field-based position involving approximately 75% international travel. You will receive 6-8 weeks of initial training at the company's German headquarters, followed by ongoing technical training and opportunities to develop specialist expertise in complex machinery and PLC systems.

You will be joining an established international business offering a high level of independence, extensive technical training, and the opportunity to become a specialist in a technically challenging field.

The Role:

• 
  Install, commission, maintain, and repair complex end-of-line packaging machinery.
• 
  Travel internationally, primarily across France, with additional coverage of North Africa and the Middle East.
• 
  Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related faults.
• 
  Assemble and commission machine modifications, completing functional and acceptance tests.
• 
  Train customer personnel in machine operation and maintenance.
• 
  Complete initial training in Germany, with further opportunities to develop technical expertise.

The Candidate:

• 
  Background in Mechatronics or equivalent practical engineering experience.
• 
  4-5 years' experience working with complex machinery.
• 
  Experience with PLC systems, such as Siemens or Schneider.
• 
  Knowledge of Allen-Bradley, RSLogix, RSLinx, or Schneider PAC Drive II is beneficial.
• 
  Fluent in French and English; German is advantageous, and Arabic is beneficial.
• 
  Full driving licence and valid passport.
• 
  Willing to undertake approximately 75% international travel, including periods of two weeks away followed by one week at home, with occasional trips of up to four weeks.
• 
  Packaging machinery experience is desirable but not essential.
